​A Champion for Our Region: East Riding’s Own Dave McCobb Elevated to the House of Lords

​The East Riding Liberal Democrats are absolutely delighted by the announcement that former Hull City Councillor, Dave McCobb has been appointed as a new member of the House of Lords.
​While Dave McCobb is widely known for his phenomenal 24 years of public service on Hull City Council, his roots are deeply embedded right here in the East Riding. Born in Beverley and raised in Haltemprice, Dave’s journey from a local lad to becoming the area's first-ever Liberal Democrat Parliamentarian is a proud moment for our entire region.

​A Strong Voice for Hull and East Yorkshire
​Throughout his career, Dave McCobb has been a tireless champion for local communities. First elected in 2002, he was re-elected by residents six consecutive times. During his tenure, he served as a crucial cabinet member, spearheading the creation of the highly successful Crime Prevention Fund, which has delivered over 100 community safety projects.

​Now, he is taking that same fierce dedication to Westminster, promising to ensure that both Hull and the East Riding get the investment, recognition, and fair deal they have long been denied by the central government.

Community Voices Must Be Heard on New “Clean Air” Solar Mega-Project

​The East Riding Liberal Democrats are closely monitoring the latest developments regarding the newly rebranded Clean Air Solar Farm. While we are committed to a greener future and achieving net-zero, we believe that large-scale infrastructure projects must work with our local communities, not be imposed upon them from Whitehall. ​The proposal, a 500MW evolution of the previous "Kingfisher" project, is now being spearheaded by PS Renewables and Ørsted Onshore. Spanning two massive sites near Beverley, Lockington, and Walkington, the scale of this project is undeniable,it aims to power 160,000 homes. Civic Leaders Praise Goole as Town Hosts Historic Yorkshire Day Celebrations ​Goole had the great honour of hosting Yorkshire Day, marking the same year as the town celebrated its 200th birthday. ​Town Mayor of Goole, Cllr Kevin Flynn, hosted civic dignitaries from across the region as Goole stood at the heart of Yorkshire for the Official Yorkshire Day Civic Celebration, organised by Goole Town Council on behalf of The Yorkshire Society. As part of the town's bicentenary celebrations, Goole welcomed civic leaders and guests from across the county to celebrate Yorkshire's rich heritage, history, and traditions. ​The Yorkshire Day Parade passed through the town centre, followed by a Civic Service at St John's Church that was open to everyone.
