Boost for Local Sport as Hessle Clubs Secure Over £86,000 in Community Funding

​Local sports facilities in Hessle are set for a major transformation after securing more than £85,000 in funding to upgrade their sites and expand activities for residents.
​Hessle Lawn Tennis Club and Hull Cycle Speedway Club have been awarded a combined total of £86,432. The investment comes from East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s commuted sums, capital secured by the council from housing developers specifically to invest back into community improvement projects.
​Hessle Lawn Tennis Club received £45,000 to install modern, energy-efficient LED floodlights and redevelop an unused court. In an exciting move to reflect growing sports trends, a previously derelict court on the site has also been successfully converted into three brand-new pickleball courts.
​Meanwhile, Hull Cycle Speedway Club was awarded £41,432 to deliver much-needed upgrades to the clubhouse facilities at its Hessle Raceway home, ensuring a better experience for both members and visiting competitors.

Civic Leaders Praise Goole as Town Hosts Historic Yorkshire Day Celebrations ​Goole had the great honour of hosting Yorkshire Day, marking the same year as the town celebrated its 200th birthday. ​Town Mayor of Goole, Cllr Kevin Flynn, hosted civic dignitaries from across the region as Goole stood at the heart of Yorkshire for the Official Yorkshire Day Civic Celebration, organised by Goole Town Council on behalf of The Yorkshire Society.
