Local Councillors Welcome Fines Issued to Drivers Nuisance-Honking on Hessle Foreshore

Two drivers have been fined after being caught repeatedly sounding their horns on Hessle Foreshore, as local authorities continue their crackdown on anti-social behaviour in the area.

​The coastal spot is subject to a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which was specifically introduced to tackle ongoing anti-social behaviour and vehicle-related nuisance during late evening and early morning hours. Among its conditions, the order explicitly prohibits the unnecessary use of vehicle horns where it is likely to cause annoyance, alarm, or distress to residents and visitors.

​The incident occurred in June, when police officers observed two motorists sounding their horns without reasonable cause. Both drivers were promptly issued Fixed Penalty Notices for breaching the PSPO guidelines.
