Civic Leaders Praise Goole as Town Hosts Historic Yorkshire Day Celebrations
​Goole had the great honour of hosting Yorkshire Day, marking the same year as the town celebrated its 200th birthday.
​Town Mayor of Goole, Cllr Kevin Flynn, hosted civic dignitaries from across the region as Goole stood at the heart of Yorkshire for the Official Yorkshire Day Civic Celebration, organised by Goole Town Council on behalf of The Yorkshire Society. As part of the town's bicentenary celebrations, Goole welcomed civic leaders and guests from across the county to celebrate Yorkshire's rich heritage, history, and traditions.
​The Yorkshire Day Parade passed through the town centre, followed by a Civic Service at St John's Church that was open to everyone. The celebrations later continued in West Park, where the Goole & East Riding Community Concert Band performed as crowds relaxed and enjoyed an afternoon of live music. The community came out for the parade, soak up the atmosphere, and give visitors a true Yorkshire welcome, with many proudly wearing their white roses and cheering from the sidelines.

​The landmark event was also attended by the Lord Lieutenant, Jim Dick OBE, and the High Sheriff, Neil Sanderson.
​Reflecting on the success of the day, Chairman of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Cllr Linda Johnson, shared her thoughts:
​"I was pleased to attend the Yorkshire Day Celebrations in Goole, joining civic representatives from across the Yorkshire region to celebrate Yorkshire's rich heritage, strong communities and enduring local pride."
​"Goole Town Council hosted the Civic celebration in partnership with The Yorkshire Society as part of the town's Bicentenary Celebration marking 200 years since Goole received its port charter in 1826."
​"The celebrations brought people together to honour the history, culture and spirit of both Goole and Yorkshire, highlighting everything that makes the county such a special place to live, work and visit."
​"Congratulations to everyone involved in organising this memorable community event and successful Yorkshire Day celebration."

​Town Mayor of Bridlington, Cllr Mike Heslop-Mullens, also expressed admiration for the event:
​"It was an absolute privilege to represent Bridlington at such a landmark occasion in Goole. Celebrating Yorkshire Day alongside Goole’s 200th anniversary demonstrated the incredible pride and warmth of our region. The organisers and local community delivered an exceptional event that highlighted the very best of East Yorkshire spirit."

​Town Mayor of Beverley, Cllr Cheryl Payne, added:
​"What a lovely Yorkshire Day in Goole! Such a warm welcome, lots of friendly faces and a real sense of Yorkshire pride. I had a wonderful time representing Beverley catching up with familiar faces and meeting plenty of new ones too. A really enjoyable day celebrating everything that makes Yorkshire special."

​The East Riding Liberal Democrats are closely monitoring the latest developments regarding the newly rebranded Clean Air Solar Farm.
