Councillor Demands Urgent Road Safety Review for Mill House Woods Lane in Cottingham Following Second Crash

Following a rapid succession of dramatic accidents, local concern has peaked over the safety of Mill House Woods Lane in Cottingham. Councillor Phil Redshaw (Cottingham North) has urgently written to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's (ERYC) Traffic Management Team, demanding immediate action to prevent a potential tragedy.

A String of Alarming Incidents
The calls for intervention come in the wake of two major crashes at the exact same location on the narrow lane:
September 11th: A Land Rover Discovery completely overturned.
October 1st: A brand-new Mercedes crashed at the identical spot, resulting in collateral damage to a parked blue Mini.
While remarkably no injuries were reported in either accident, the proximity of these events to vulnerable road users has left residents and local representatives deeply shaken.

The Risk to Pedestrians and Schoolchildren
Cllr Redshaw highlighted the severe risk posed to the local community, particularly pedestrians using the narrow route:

Close Calls: Both crashes took place during peak times when foot traffic is high.

School Run Danger: During the most recent incident involving the Mercedes, parents and children had walked along the adjacent footpath a mere five minutes prior on their way to school.

"The potential consequences could have been considerably more serious," Cllr Redshaw noted, stressing that the lane's layout combined with these recurring incidents makes it a ticking clock for a major pedestrian accident.
Next Steps and Council Action
Cllr Redshaw has formally pressed ERYC's Traffic Management Team to treat the matter with the utmost urgency. Cllr Redshaw has requested that the safety review:
Identify the underlying causes of the repeated accidents at this specific bottleneck.
Implement immediate interim measures to protect pedestrians and motorists.
Outline an expedited timeline for a permanent resolution.

Council officials have yet to respond, but local residents will be watching closely for swift interventions on Mill House Woods Lane.
